Student Journal Art Competition

Before the summer, St Mary’s Newport ran a competition for all students to design the front cover of their student journal.

The theme was to incorporate one of our CEIST values ‘Creating Community ‘. Congratulations to our winners on their outstanding designs.

The Winner of the TY Journal design (purple cover) is Thea Shields  while the winner of the Main Journal design  (wine cover)  was Leah Molloy who is in 3rd year. These designs are for the  front covers of the student journals.

Jennifer Ryan 3rd year, Orla Newton 6th year and Ciara Fitzgibbon 6th year are the back cover winners.

TY Jiving

This week the TY jiving module kicked off! For the next four weeks Tim O’Dwyer will be teaching the TYs all the jiving moves they need. Thank you to Tim and to Newport Community Hall for facilitating our new module.

2022/2023 Sports Awards

On Thursday 7th September St Mary’s Secondary School Newport celebrated their students achievements in the 2022/2023 sporting season. The teams who received medals at the ceremony were; The Athletics team, First year boys football, First year hurling, U15 hurling, U16 Hurling, U15 Camogie, Junior ladies football, First year girls soccer, Junior girls soccer, U15 boys soccer and rowing.
