St. Mary’s Secondary School in Ballina had two very successful inaugural events in their Transition Year program.
These were The Alpha Course and Grandparent’s Day.
Both were peer led, with the Transition Years taking the responsibility of bring the events/programmes to conclusion.
Looking at the Alpha Course first, which was proposed by Ballina Churches Together, with the support of their Transition Year Coordinator, as a wonderful opportunity to encourage our students to explore their faith and meaning of life.
The Transition Year Student, Abigail Adamson-Beattie, wrote a insightful piece about the course and the article can be found in the link below.
The second event the Transition Year program undertook was Grandparent’s Day.
This was a massive success and the students even included “Grandfriends” to
support students whose grandparents may not be with us anymore.
Writing about this event the Transition Year Student, Siofra Fielding, wrote a lovely piece detailing the school’s first ever Grandparents Day and the article can be found in the link below.
