28 First Year Students (12 groups) from ScoilMhuire participated in the Junior Category of the Student Enterprise competition held at the West County Hotel in Ennis last Wednesday, March 7th, 2018.
EK Bookmarks were awarded first place in the Junior Category for their original painted and illustrated bookmarks. They received a locally designed trophy, a €250 One4all voucher and will compete at the National Student Enterprise Awards Final in Croke Park, Dublin on Wednesday, May 2nd 2018.
Katie Hartigan’s business Harty’s Treats won third prize and a €50 One4all Voucher. She sold a variety of home baked produce during the Christmas markets held at our school.
Woof Wear won Best Social Media Award and a €50 One4all Voucher. This team of four, Molly Gallagher, Bay McDowell, Etain O’Connor and Shóna O’Donovan successfully made and sold Dog Bandanas in a variety of sizes and styles.
Precious Pooch won the award for Best Display and a €50 One4all Voucher. This team of two entrepreneurs Ellen Carey and Jane McInerney made and sold their own nutritious dog treats as well as travel friendly collapsible dog bowls.
In the Intermediate Category, the Colourful Creations team of Zara Jain and Chloe Lin won two awards. They received a €100 One4all voucher for second place and a €50 voucher for Best Display. They produced a range of Macaron Soaps and a delicious variety of homemade gingerbread men, cookies and cakes.
Well done to all the First and Second Years who participated in this competition and set up successful businesses.
