St Brendan’s Girl Primary, The Glen

School Ethos

St Brendan’s G.N.S, the Glen was officially opened by Jack Lynch in 1977 and has been a centre of learning for over thirty years. St Brendan’s is an all-girls Catholic Primary School with 91 pupils and a staff comprising of 10 teachers, two special needs assistants and other ancillary staff. Our experienced and dedicated staff strive to provide the best educational opportunities for the children in our care.

Sr Goretti was principal of the school for thirty three years until she retired and her involvement in the school continues to this day as she is a member of the Board of Management. Sr Goretti’s contribution to the whole community has been enormous over the years. She was succeeded as principal by Ms Ann Franey who had worked as deputy principal with Sr Goretti for many years. Following Ann’s retirement, Ms Fiona O’Neill was appointed principal and she continues to lead the school forward with energy, dedication and a ready smile.

While St Brendan’s is a school with a Catholic ethos it gives due recognition and respect to all other religions.
St. Brendan’s aims to provide a holistic education for the children in a happy, safe, yet challenging environment and to radiate this into the wider community by encouraging parents’ education and participation and so contribute to the development of the community “The Glen”.
