We, in Mercy College, are a Catholic school community in the trusteeship of CEIST, which encourages and fosters Christian values, promoting a sense of mutual respect, responsibility and self-esteem in each pupil and member of staff, paying particular attention to students with special needs. We shall nurture the academic and vocational skills, which will enable our students to attain their maximum potential.
Mercy College opened in 1946. For over half a century it has adapted itself to meet the needs of girls in Sligo and the surrounding areas.
The present buildings replaced the original structure in 1976.
A modern new gymnasium and lunchroom were completed in 1987 while a Prayer room, extra Science Laboratory and five new classrooms were added in 1993.
Sports facilities were greatly improved before the end of the century when a football pitch, new running track, outdoor basketball and tennis courts were completed.
