Katie Whelan, a leaving cert. student in Ardscoil Mhuire has brought an idea from concept to reality. Through sheer perseverance and a strong belief in supporting suicide awareness and promoting positive mental health Katie founded Lisa’s Light.
Light boxes with inspirational messages are being erected on the bridges of Limerick city. Local and national media have been following the progress of this project. Katie has been interviewed live on radio on the Ray Darcy Show, Limerick Today and Newstalk and has appeared on TG4 and the RTE news.
The school will host a ‘Garden Fete’ to raise funds (Admission €2). Cakes and bakes and plants for the house or garden will be on sale. There will be a monster raffle, wheel of fortune, novelty games and teas and coffees. Monies raised will be used to fund the manufacture of the light boxes and for further projects in awareness raising.
We would like to see this supported by our whole community.
Many hands make light work!
