Colàiste Muire’s Cadette B team defeated Rockford Manor, Dublin in 2 sets 25-7, 25-15 to become Senior B champions for the first time. Prior to this the school has won All Ireland titles in Senior and Cadette C, Cadette B and Cadette A.
Having lost to Rockford Manor in the group stages, the girls had worked hard in training with coach Teresa Nì Riordàin and with the majority of the team in their final year of school they were determined to bring the silverware back to Ennis.
The Colàiste girls dominated from the start with very strong serving from Anna Courtney, Saidhbh Woods and Kate Taylor. Having contested previous finals the girls kept their composure and their play was faultless with excellent setting from Kate Taylor and Saidhbh Woods and powerful hitting from centre hitters, MVP Chris Kearney and Anna Courtney and wing hitters Rachel Tone and Emma Purcell.
Having dominated the first set, 9 consecutive points from Saidhbh Woods’ opening service in the second set ensured the senior B title was heading to Ennis.
