Irish Ambassador to Malta, Patrick Duffy visits Colaiste Bride Clondalkin
As part of the Government’s Global Ireland programme, Coláiste Bríde was privileged to host a visit from the Irish Ambassador to Malta, Patrick Duffy, on 9th January, 2020. His Excellency, along with Peacekeeper Lieutenant Kelly, spoke to students about the Global Ireland initiative which represents the most ambitious renewal and expansion of Ireland’s international presence in terms of diplomacy, culture, business, overseas aid, tourism and trade. They also took the opportunity to discuss Ireland’s place in the world, our role in the European Union and the United Nations, along with the global challenges we face.
Lieutenant Kelly outlined Irelands Peacekeeping work over the last 60 years and spoke about the importance of peace-keeping as one of the main contributions Ireland makes as part of ‘Global Ireland’.
The visit culminated with Principal Maire-Thérèse Kilmartin being presented with the UN flag and Charter to the school.
