Students call for action on Climate Change

On Friday 20^th September students and teachers of Presentation Tralee took action for climate change. Students had worked to highlight our own ecosystem around the school on a guided walk followed by a special presentation on climate change. In order to make sure the day has a lasting effect; students have created their own Climate Action Tree with everyone in the school community placing their pledges on the leaves. Sincere thanks go to Mrs Mo O’    Connor and her team of teachers and students who organised the day.

Transition year students enjoy jam packed September

It has been a busy first month back for our transition year students. On the 15^th September students made the trip to the National Ploughing Championships where the glorious weather really added to the excitement of the day. Other trips this month included a surfing lesson on Banna Beach, a visit to Cahersiveen – the birthplace of Daniel O’Connell as well as a geography outing to the Burren, Co Clare.

The outdoor classroom

September has blessed us with some unseasonal good weather this year. Many class groups have taken advantage of this by moving the classroom outdoors. Science students have been studying ecological habitats in the green areas surrounding the school, while Art students have been searching for inspiration in the beautiful trees, flowers and plants on campus.

We are lucky here in Presentation Secondary to have our own Polytunnel and with temperatures reaching as high as 32 degrees over the last few weeks the gardening club have been busy harvesting fresh tomatoes, plants and scrubs.

Visit of the Kerry Camogie Team

We were delighted to be joined by the victorious Kerry Ladies Camogie Team recently, including a few past pupils. The ladies are a real inspiration for our Camogie teams who are up and running already this year.

On the day we also celebrated Presentation Tralee student Amy McCarthy who co-captained the winner Kerry camogie Under 14 team to victory recently.
